This thing between us,
They called it chemistry.
I would rather call it Physics.
It was a force for sure
It changed the size of our hearts
The shape of our hopes
And our heads would never stop feeling dizzy.
In Physics, it was under
A forces of non-contact
Even through we made eye contact
A non-contact force stronger than gravity
Which made us feel we were flying
No wonder cupid didn’t walk.
There was a force of electricity
Some touch that made our hair stand
When the other tool charge.
It was some magnetic force.
That made us unlike poles.
Attract each other.
Her thoughts straight as a rod
Her center of gravity within her mystery.
My thoughts, scattered around me in a ring.
My center of gravity, not inside me.
Yet, this non contact force
Made us long for friction
Some tension as we pulled the strings.
We promised to stay close,
Since the magnitude of a non contact force
Decreases with in case of separation.
These moments of force left us wondering which direction to turn.
Following the rules of the clock made us negative so we against time.
And yet this force defied the laws of motion
(Did Newton ever experienced it?)
We didn’t resist the force
Hell, we didn’t even change our state of rest or motion,
Except that now it felt more easy.
This change of momentum took place in all directions
When the force was only one.
I started watering my plants, loving my neighbour’s cat.
We didn’t give an equal action to her reaction.
We knew when they needed to be alone
When they needed time.
We were equal – we were opposite
Our hands lay parallel when we slept
They called us a couple force.
We didn’t change any thing,
The +ve and –ve moments where such
That we were left in state of equilibrium
Never to be disturbed again.
